As an avid photographer of ten years now I’ve made photographs with everything from 4x5 large format film through to Digital 35mm although admittedly I spend far more time cranking out instagrams with my iPhone now. I’ve enjoyed landscape photography, toyed with conceptual photography and am lucky to have some more recent works on permanent display as part of the Landmarks Exhibition at the National Museum of Australia.
I am a fan of all things online and proud of my roles as an early contributor to the Postcode Plants Database sponsored by Royal Mail and the British Museum of Natural History as I am with the development of China’s first online supermarket website back in 1997 when all Woolworth’s could muster were PDF catalogues.
Last but not least, I’m a born again biker. Call it a mid-life crisis but I’ve been bitten by the bug. I could never think of driving a car purely for the joy of it but there is something about riding a motorbike that makes me grin like a 10 yr. old on a roller-coaster. I think it’s the hanging-on part. It’s not just the ride though, there’s the whole quiet contemplation of motorcycle maintenance; actually more swearing and bruised knuckles but I’m working on the zen thing.
So, whether it’s pimping my ride or someone’s website, eating at the family restaurant or wandering our island home of 15 years with a camera I am grateful for every day but more than anything, I’m grateful for the family and friends both present and past who’ve all contributed to make my life what it is today--simply awesome!
Thanks for dropping by …John.
