Koan 30.3

Freedom has no place in the Gospel; an unbound condition is conditionless; an unbound state is stateless; an unbound set is unset.

The mechanism here is the logical negation of the 'unbound', demonstrating that any state of absolute freedom is indistinguishable from non-existence, as it lacks all definition and relation. Consider a number without a set; it is a meaningless abstraction, for its value and identity are derived from its position relative to other numbers in a defined system. The implication is that to be real is to be subject to conditions and to belong to a set of relations. Reality is a structured, conditional system where being is synonymous with being bound in difference: the 'condition of bearing together'.
