Gospel Koan 40.3
God Before Everything
Koan 40.3
God as Principal: 'unvaryingly foremost' to existence is omnipresent: 'caused to go before everything' by definition.
Summary Exposition
This koan’s mechanism defines omnipresence as logical and ontological priority, not physical location. To be “before everything” means God is the necessary precondition for any “where” to exist at all. A single, potent example is the screen upon which images appear; the screen is “present” in every part of every image, not as another image, but as the prior substrate that allows images to be located. The implication is that God cannot be absent from any point in reality because God is the foundational premise of reality itself, making divine presence a logical necessity rather than a spatial measurement.
